The Power of Music

Words have the power to influence. Words have to power to give life; and to take life away. Songs stay in the heads of those who listen much more than words spoken softly. Notes played portray sadness, grief, pain, loneliness, love, all without a single word said. The music in everyone reflects upon the struggles and pain that they themselves have experienced. The song in a heart rivals that of the most beautiful song ever sung in the history of music. The “notes” of the past make the future. Sing the song in your heart, and sing it proudly, for that is who you are. Raw, untamed at your core.

“If one person …

“If one person can be scarred by another, then certainly they can be healed by another.”-Hatori Sohma

Okay, so for those amazingly awesome people following me, THANK YOU!!!!! I should let you know, I am entirely into Japanese cartoons called Anime. (“Anime” literally translates into “cartoon”.) I’ve had people tell me that anime is useless and all that, but really, a lot of animes teach really good morals. Of course, like everything else there is not so good anime involving things that no teenager should ever see. This quote is from one of my favorite animes called “Fruits Basket”. The protagonist, Tohru Honda, reminds me a lot of myself. Sometimes an air head but smart in her own way. She strives to make people happy and she is always looking for the good in things and people. Now, I could go on and on about this wonderful anime, but that would ruin all the fun of it, instead i will explain this quote as I’m sure word press intended this space for. Being hurt by one can lead to scarring. In fact, being hurt period will leave someone scarred. Emotionally, physically or mentally doesn’t matter. They are scarred and hurt. Now, I have a philosophical question for you. (Well, sort of philosophical.) What is our role as a human being? Is it to get the American dream?(For my peeps in the U.S.A, they would answer yes.) To me, it’s less of achieving that great American dream, and more of helping those aspire to what they want. Healing those who’ve been hurt, and guiding them when they are hurt again,(because they undoubtedly will get hurt; that’s the way the world works, sadly.) If everybody were to suddenly say a good comment to a random stranger, or help someone they don’t know out, does that mean that they could’ve healed a scar? Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I understand there comes a risk to everything, but what is life without risks? A dull thing devoid of all fun and mystery? It is definitely possible to heal someone who is scarred. The only way to do that, is to take risks and follow your instinct. (if your instinct is to be rude or mean, DO NOT act on it. Please?)
                                                                                                       -From your Young Journalist.

The Frustrating Aspect of Journalism.

I’m not going to lie. Being a journalist, and a young one at that, isn’t all rainbows and sunshine. It’s not easy to win people’s opinions, nor their favor. Often times, a writer will gain 2 critics for every 1 fan. (Don’t quote me on that, It’s just an observation; not concrete proof.) What’s even more frustrating is when you put your heart and soul into an article you wrote about a topic that you are passionate for and it doesn’t run. An editor once told me that a journalist writes articles to get a reaction out of the people who read it. Negative or positive, it is a reaction. It proves that your article made people think. THAT’s the goal. Not to make yourself famous or to gain fans; but to get a reaction out of people. To get them thinking. Recently I wrote my very first article with all of my heart. I’ve had articles not run before because of ad space and whatnot, but this hurts more because I LOVED that article. As well as my editor and school principal. I wanted to think outside of the box; rock the boat a little. Talk about an elephant in the room because it’s a serious topic. This was what all the fuss was about: Human Trafficking. It is a touchy subject, but nonetheless one that needs to be heard and spoken about. If we as journalists aren’t willing to take risks with our articles, then who will? News is news. Problems are problems. A journalists’ job is to inform the public of said news and problems.

A pure body is a pure heart.

The title is kinda misleading as I read it, but I can’t think of a better one, so I’m just going to roll with it. As I look around me and listen closely, I hear conversations of young girls who can’t wait to hook up with their boyfriends over the weekend and I see girls dressing as if they have a job that involves selling their body. Boy’s wear their pants in a very rude manner and act as if they grew up uneducated and are under the influence of drugs. As I see and hear all of this, I think to myself, “What happened?” Back before ghetto was in style, showing your body like that was frowned upon. Having sex before marriage was not okay and there were serious issues and consequences, so, what exactly happened? Was it a lack of acceptable role models and discipline? Or is it an increase in peer pressure to conform to what everyone else is doing? What happened to originality? Where did self respect go? To me, sleeping with some boy is just going to mess that girl up. I think that some girls should be more respectful to themselves and say no to a guy who wants to get in her pants. Likewise, boys should not be expecting girls to do that in the first place. They need to pull up their pants and act like gentlemen. key word: GENTLE. Loud and obnoxious behavior is acceptable in certain situations, but everyday? That is pushing the lines and people’s patience. It is hard to have these opinions in a world where sex is everywhere. It’s hinted on commercials for a perfume, handbag or even a can of pop. Sex is everywhere in this world and I guess it can be hard to resist it with so many people doing it, but honestly, it’s not that hard. Maybe I’m just more stubborn than most people, but that’s how i see things.
